Industry Leaders: Navigating Struggle in the Canadian Apartment Sector with CMHC
ABOUT
Join our Canadian experts as they dive into the complexities of the Canadian residential sector to identify the factors market participants need to consider in the present environment.
The Canadian apartment sector has been facing issues over the past year. With turnover rates at record lows, apartment owners can still move in-place rent at a healthy pace. However, asking rents are flat and growth could be tepid in ’25 as changes in immigration policies should negatively impact demand. In addition, supply is expected to be substantial across the country next year.
Green Street’s team will be joined by Mr. Aled ab Iorwerth, Deputy Chief Economist at CMHC. Aled joined CMHC in 2016 with a PhD in Economics from Western University and master’s degrees in European and International Relations (from University of Amsterdam) and Economics (from Carleton University).
